About the Discord profile banner size
A Discord user profile banner needs to be at least 680 by 240 pixels, and it appears behind your avatar in the profile card that pops out when someone clicks your name. Plenty of guides, including earlier versions of this page, still say 600 by 240, which is the older figure. Design at 680 by 240 or a 2x version of it and you are covered either way. Your round avatar overlaps the lower-left, so keep anything you want seen toward the top and right. This is a Nitro feature, and full Nitro members can upload an animated GIF banner.
Quick tips
- 01680 by 240 is the current minimum; 1360 by 480 is the same shape at 2x for high-density screens.
- 02If you have seen 600 by 240 quoted, that is the older number. A 680-wide file satisfies both.
- 03Your avatar overlaps the lower-left; keep content top and right.
- 04It is a Nitro feature, and Nitro allows an animated GIF banner.

How this spec was checked
Platform sizes change without notice, so this entry records what it was verified against rather than stating a number and hoping it holds. Last checked July 27, 2026.
ConventionDiscord does not publish a size for this surface. The number below is the one the industry has standardised on, which is a useful answer but not a claim about Discord.
Discord's help centre blocks automated reads, so this entry could not be checked against Discord's own page directly. The current minimum reported consistently for the profile banner is 680 by 240; the 600 by 240 figure this page carried until July 2026 is the legacy number that still circulates widely. Treat both as reported rather than documented.
