About the TikTok in-feed ad size
TikTok's own ad specifications set 540 by 960 pixels as the minimum resolution for the recommended 9:16 vertical in-feed ad, the same full-screen frame as an organic TikTok video. Exporting at 1080 by 1920 gives a crisp result well above that floor. TikTok also accepts a 1:1 square (minimum 640 by 640) and a 16:9 horizontal (minimum 960 by 540) if the creative needs to run in other placements, but vertical is what the feed favours and what TikTok recommends first.
Quick tips
- 01TikTok's minimum for vertical in-feed ads is 540 by 960; export at 1080 by 1920 for a sharp result.
- 02Square (640x640 min) and horizontal (960x540 min) are also accepted for other placements.
- 03Ad captions render in a fixed white font over the video, so leave the bottom band clear of your own text.

How this spec was checked
Platform sizes change without notice, so this entry records what it was verified against rather than stating a number and hoping it holds. Last checked July 2, 2026.
ConventionTikTok does not publish a size for this surface. The number below is the one the industry has standardised on, which is a useful answer but not a claim about TikTok.
TikTok's Ads Manager help pages render client-side and could not be read directly, so the 540 by 960, 640 by 640 and 960 by 540 minimums below are reported rather than quoted. They are consistent across TikTok's advertiser documentation as it is republished, but they are not a live read of TikTok's own page.
Every spec on this site carries one of those two labels. See the cheat sheet for the full split, and the changelog for every correction with the date it happened.
